Eric McAbee, PLS - President
Eric began his career in land surveying in 1993. Eric received his education from North Carolina State University where he majored in Civil Engineering - Construction Option. Eric spent 8 years in the field doing construction layout of site grading, building, bridge and highway projects. He received his NC surveying license in 1999, became Vice President in 2002 and President in 2009. He now heads day-to-day operations of the company, including personnel matters, safety program, scheduling and estimating.

J. Barry West, PLS Vice-President
Barry is a licensed professional land surveyor licensed to practice in both North and South Carolina. Barry began his career in surveying in 2002. He holds two Associate of Applied Science Degrees (Drafting & Design Engineering Technology and Surveying Technology) from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College. Barry manages and coordinates the execution of the platting, mapping and office work for McAbee & Associates, PA. He is also responsible for providing field crew personnel with information and guidance on projects, as well as providing valuable information, professional advice and solutions for clients.

Sandra M. McAbee - Accounts Manager
Sandra helped Steve establish McAbee & Associates in 1989. Since that time she has worked in all aspects of the business including fieldwork, title research, drafting, computation of construction layout, and plat preparation. Under her leadership, McAbee and Associates was one of the first businesses in the area to switch from manual drafting to computerized drafting with Auto-Cad software. More recently, Sandra has managed the office, dealing with clients and employees on a daily basis and is now accounts manager.

Wallace S. (Steve) McAbee, PLS Founder - Emeritus
Steve retired from his position as president at Mcabee & Associates in the spring of 2009. He continues to retain his licensure as a professional land surveyor with the State of North Carolina. He graduated from Lake City Forestry School with an Associates Degree in forestry in 1967 and from Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College with an Associates Degree in Civil Engineering in 1977. The North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors awarded Steve with his Licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor in 1978.
Steve has a broad range of knowledge in the surveying field with additional knowledge of the construction industry. He began work in the profession in 1967, working for a surveying firm from 1967-1977. During this same period, Steve spent four years in the U.S. Air Force, serving primarily in Alaska. In 1977 he began working for a large construction firm, progressing to become Vice-President before leaving in 1989. In February 1989, Steve and Sandra established McAbee & Associates. Steve guided McAbee and Associates from a small family business to its current standing as a regional surveying firm with more than 15 employees.

Field Personnel - McAbee & Associates is fortunate to have field personnel that are both highly qualified and professional. At this time, McAbee and Associates has 6 field crews that use the latest technology and many years of experience to provide the highest quality work to be found in the area. From boundary retracement to construction layout, our field crews can handle the most challenging of jobs. As an added benefit for our clients, our excellent crew chiefs are able to make in-the-field decisions that can keep their projects moving in a timely fashion without expensive delays. We have the manpower to tackle the biggest of jobs and the qualifications to do that job in a timely and accurate manner.
